Héctor “Macho” Camacho died this morning after remaining family members arrived in Puerto Rico and he was removed from life support.

A funeral is being planned in New York City and possibly a wake in Puerto Rico.

The director of the Rio Piedras Medical Center in Puerto Rico, Dr. Ernesto Torres, has announced that doctors have declared that 50-year-old Hector “Macho” Camacho “is clinically brain dead,” and that “We have done all we can do.”

Camacho’s family is expected to decide if he should be removed from life support later today.

several times tonight in Puerto Rico and is in critical condition with wounds to his face and neck.

Doctors say Camacho could be paralyzed from the shooting as the bullet fractured two vertebrae after first hitting him in the jaw and ending up in his shoulder.

Camacho’s driver was killed in the shooting.

Boxing legend Hector “Macho” Camacho, has been arrested and charged with child abuse by the Orange-Osceola State Attorney’s Office for allegedly picking up one of his sons by the neck, slamming him to the ground and then stomping on him back on March 22, 2011 – yes 2011.

According to an Orange County Sheriff’s Office report the incident occurred at the home of Camacho’s ex-wife but there were differing statements made about the incident so the case was forwarded to the prosecuting attorney, who filed the charge against Camacho in November.

Camacho apparently learned about the charges and turned himself in at the Orange County Jail Monday April 2, 2012.

He posted a $5,000 bond and has been released from custody.


According to his attorney’s statement after the arrest, “Mr. Camacho only recently learned of the complaint and accordingly voluntarily reported to officials so that this matter can be resolved. He maintains a good relationship with his sons and all would like to put this matter behind” him.
