The only pair of matching “Singing Bird Pistols”, attributed to Frères Rochat was up for auction at Christie’s in Hong Kong. Made of gold with diamonds, pearls and enamel these amazing “toy” pistols sold for just under $6,000,000 back in May of 2011. The Frères Rochat were three brothers who worked in Geneva, Switzerland from 1800 to 1835. They are most famous for perfecting the highly complex singing bird mechanism and placing it in cages, mirrors and even pistols.

Crafted in the 1820’s this pair of pistols are thought to be the only matching set of “Bird Pistols” and only a few other examples of individual pistols are thought to exist.
